Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certifies and promotes the skills needed for the use of Linux and open source technologies in a professional environment, with an independent comprehensive and high quality, testing program.
Founded in Toronto, Canada in 1999 as a non-profit international organization, LPI thanks to the quality of its program developers, its training partners, its sponsors and the support of the IT industry and of the open source community's, is a leader in professional Linux certifications.
Among the supporters of LPI, we find companies such as IBM, Novell, Silicon Graphics Inc., Hewlett-Packard, IDG and others.
The LPI certifications are issued in more than 7,000 locations around the world thanks to a major network of training partners, certified teachers and professionals. In 2007 over 170,000 exams and 53,000 internationally recognized certifications, were delivered.
